About us
Kia Kitea was born from a passion for our culture and a deep respect for the Tangata Whenua of Aotearoa. Our name, meaning 'Be Seen,' has a powerful double meaning. It represents the visibility of our Hi-Vis Safety Apparel and symbolises our pride in our culture—a stand we take to ensure our heritage is not just preserved, but proudly displayed for all to see. Our goal is to nurture the language and culture by proudly putting it in plain sight.
Our difference
What sets Kia Kitea's apparel apart? It's simple. Once we had registered the trademark, we contacted Jill at Creighton Design to manage the process of creating a design that matched our brief. Jill then contacted Taranaki artist Jax Roper who developed the unique graphic we use. We later found out that Jax and I have shared lineage which makes the design even more special for us.
